
Success Story: Restoration of the Façade of La Seo Cathedral
In one of the most emblematic projects of our trajectory, we carried out the restoration and protection of the façade of La Seo Cathedral, a historical and artistic landmark in the heart of Zaragoza.
The intervention required a system highly compatible with mineral substrates, offering exceptional durability while fully respecting the architectural heritage. For this reason, our silicate system was selected, consisting of T03 Mineral Silicate Primer and R03 Silicate Coating, especially suitable for historic buildings.
Challenge
The façade presented:
- Natural aging of the mineral surface.
- Loss of uniformity in color and texture.
- The need for a non-film-forming solution that would allow maximum breathability and be fully compatible with historic substrates.
- A high aesthetic requirement due to the monumental character of the building.
Applied Solution
1. T03 Treatment – Silicate Primer
Applied as a consolidating and mineral bonding layer, ensuring:
- Absorption homogenization.
- Improved system adhesion.
- Substrate consolidation without altering its nature.
2. R03 Finish – Orde-Sil Silicate Coating
CE-marked mineral paint, ideal for heritage restoration thanks to its properties:
- High breathability (non-film-forming).
- Resistance to light and weathering.
- Rainwater impermeability.
- Excellent color stability.
- Completely mineral and biocide-free.
Result
The T03 + R03 system made it possible to restore the façade while fully respecting the building’s original aesthetics and materiality. The results include:
- A homogeneous mineral finish, visually elegant and faithful to its historic character.
- Long-lasting protection against moisture, aging, and environmental agents.
- Full respect for heritage, thanks to a vapor-permeable system compatible with historic substrates.
