At Zaragoza’s North Station, we carried out a façade rehabilitation project using our mineral silicate system, an ideal solution for historic buildings.

Challenge
The façade showed signs of wear due to the passage of time, loss of adhesion in certain areas, and required a solution that was highly breathable, durable, and compatible with mineral substrates.

Applied Solution
To ensure a stable restoration that respects the building’s original character, we used:

• Silicate Primer T03: applied as a fixative and to homogenize substrate absorption.
• R03 Orde-Sil Silicate Coating: a mineral paint based on potassium silicate, breathable, rainwater-resistant, highly light-resistant, and biocide-free.

This system is particularly suitable for historic buildings and complies with EN 1504-2 standards for the protection of concrete surfaces.

Intervention Process

• Cleaning and repairing the substrate by removing traces of aged paint.
• Applying the silicate primer to consolidate and balance substrate absorption.
• Applying two coats of the R03 coating, ensuring maximum coverage and a matte mineral finish.

Results

• Façade restored while maintaining its original aesthetic.
• High durability thanks to the mineralization of the silicate with the substrate.
• Excellent breathability, preventing moisture-related issues.
• Long-lasting protection against weathering and color aging.
• Sustainable, non-flammable solution that respects the building’s surroundings.
